Are you thinking of starting a vocation as a Care Assistant? If so, there are a few different paths and options to choose from as a care assistant, which include:
- A domiciliary care assistant – going from home to home of individual service users and providing assistance throughout their day to day life.
- A care home care assistant – working in one individual home, working to a set rota.
- A care assistant working on behalf of a care agency – work only when you are available, in a range of different homes.
In this post we want to detail the many benefits of working on behalf of a care agency such as ourselves which includes increased flexibility and meeting new people.
So first of all, what is the role of a care agency?
Well the answer is simple. When care homes (and sometimes domiciliary care companies) need help to cover a shift – whether a permanent member of staff is off sick, or the workload has increased and they need an extra pair of hands – they will contact a care agency, much like ourselves, speak to the shift coordinators and ask for some staff to help them out.
The care agency will then contact the available care assistants registered with them and arrange appropriate cover. As this may be late notice, Elite Care are proud to offer a unique service to our staff whereby we provide transport to and from placements for all of our staff.
When working for a care agency, you aren’t tied down to shift rotas telling when you will be working. Instead, you give the agency your availability at the beginning of the week and they will offer you shifts according to your provided availability.
For example, one week you may decide that you don’t want to work on a Wednesday – whether it be you’ve got prior commitments, something planned or just want the day off.

What are the benefits of working for the Elite Care Agency?
From speaking to different carers who work for Elite Care, we can tell that our care staff thoroughly enjoy the fact that they work for an agency and not an individual home.
One thing we hear a lot is that our care staff love the large range of people that they provide a service to. Because they’re going to various different care homes, they meet a larger range of service users so they have many more people they can meet, talk to and learn from.
If you work for an individual home, and you decide that you don’t like the home for whatever reason, you are unfortunately stuck working at that home. However, when working for care agencies – and this is something that we at Elite Care really emphasise doing – if you don’t like the home you’re working at, they can ensure that you don’t go back to that home, and work at different homes instead!
Are there any downsides to working for a Care Agency?
One of the downsides to working for a Care Agency is that you would usually be expected to make your own way to the homes. However, at Elite Care Services, we provide transport for our care staff, to and from work.
By eliminating the one major negative factor about agency work, we can’t see any reason why you shouldn’t work for our agency.
Why choose to work for the Elite Care Agency?
The flexibility alone merits agency work and in Elite Care’s case, the transport to and from work provided by Elite has been proven to increase employee’s happiness and wellbeing.
